Other people's knitting

I've been doing lots of this recently - some really pretty things.

Charterhouse Mitts, from my friend Alison Crowther-Smith.   Do go and have a look at her blog, she takes much better pictures than I do!

This is a pair of fingerless mitts - worked in Rowan Fine Lace and Kidsilk Haze, with a spiral of beads and simple eyelet lace going across the back of the hand, and a frothy little ruffle around the top edge.

So pretty - and surprisingly warm, so not as frivolous as you might think.

These, on the other hand - Rhumba Alley Cuffs - are entirely frivolous.  They are great fun to knit - beads, eyelet lace again, and ruffles - and much easier than they look.  Again, worked in Rowan Fine Lace and Kidsilk Haze.

The beads are gorgeous - my pictures don't do justice to the beautiful colour variations.  They are basically green, of course, but shaded from teal through to gold - so pretty.

A garment rather than an accessory, next - this is the Singing River Shrug.  I just love this, it is so pretty.

This is worked in Rowan Kidsilk Haze and Rowan Baby Merino Silk DK - this yarn is new to me, and I like it very much.  It is very well behaved, beautifully soft, and knits up to make a lovely drapy fabric - the colour is very slightly variegated, which adds depth and interest.

There is a slightly flared lace cuff - feather and fan pattern - with a delicate beaded edging, and the Kidsilk Haze shades beautifully into the merino silk fabric.

Alison is going to be releasing these as kits soon, and she is the person to talk to if you are interested in any of these lovelies.

I've been a bit out of things recently - I won't go into details, but I've been in hospital briefly, and am now very definitely on the mend.  And being required to take it easy means lots of knitting time!  So, more soon....
